Through an enduring commitment to continuous improvement and tireless scrutiny of every detail, TERSEN™ officially launched as the premier Specialty Architectural Outdoor brand for Acuity Brands Lighting in May of 2009.

TERSEN's purpose is to add value by creating lighting systems that are relevant to both day and night-time designs. We strive to deliver products that are always meaningful in both form and performance. In every way, our desire is to relate to man, environment, and most importantly to architecture in all applications.

The name TERSEN was created by uniquely combining two Latin words: Tersus and Lumen. The literal translation of Tersus is clean, neat, and correct; while Lumen is defined as a unit measure of light. Hence, when combined Tersus + Lumen, TERSEN was born to symbolize a new meaning of clean light.

We chose our name because it represents our desire to be modern, yet eclectic; a name that reflects a core objective to begin with a clean slate and fresh perspective. By adhering to our original vision and philosophy of implementing bold decisions concerning design, performance, and quality, we have launched a brand that is modern and eclectic, innovative and most importantly, relevant.

ABOUT DESIGN

At TERSEN, we embrace the basic tenet that geometry has a special relationship to all relevant design. We believe that there is a special relationship between man and his environment, the environment and architecture, architecture and light; and we refer to these interrelationships as the founding principles of excellent product design.

We believe that there should be natural proportion, symmetry, and rhythm between the architecture and its lighting systems. We hold true to the geometry of design by implementing the Golden Section in all designs of our lighting products and systems. It is this naturally occurring proportional design that forms a unique bond between our lighting products and the architecture that we complement.
